    Default Hard Drive Ideas

I'm eyeing a new external hard drive. Thinking of H Touro.

    Any ideas?

It depends who you are, where you go and what type of information you store.

You, sir, are Yoss. Thats all normal people know, that alone, might be too much.

Keep your ideas safe and patented, always make sure to use a file shredder.

When accessing your secret thoughts, use removable media, keep it on an itnernet without a wificard, modem, or internet connection

Sorry Yoss, my tech savvy interest stopped when they still described harddrives as 5400s and 7200s.

How to give advice to an oracle anyways?

    wa7ad mitlak Sir!

The external im looking isn't for privacy, it's for backup. My laptop's loaded. You upload your HD photos & videos from your phone and after a while 500GB is notin.

But you really think personal stuff need to be offline? Who would want to get into my stuff little ol me?

I do an disk iso every week.

Get a drive with a USB 3.0 port or you will be waiting hours for a backup to finish. Of course, you have to have a computer with a USB 3.0 port as well.

Make sure to plug into the USB 3.0 port on your puter.

Anything along those lines is good, just remember that the external drive cannot load faster than your computer can out put.

Just arrange 1 day a week for a total disk iso. You erase the old iso and load the new one. That is what I do. Has saved me many a time when I have screwed up the Master Boot Record.

    How did I do that?

I have fooled with a dual boot Windows/Linux system. Finally got it running.

2011 Model computer (bought in Feb 2012) runs both Windows 7 and linux

2008 laptop runs a temporary version of Win 10

Any should do, just make sure it has a 3.0 USB port, and make sure you do an disk image iso, once a week.

    I have a 2010 WD 500 GB external drive.

Why do you have to do all that? Is it privacy? u agree with Kanaan?

3.0 isn't an issue. it's the quality of the drive, speed, etc. I want 7200, and durable. don't want it jumping at the slightest jump.
