The Lebanese army rescued on Thursday seven soldiers taken hostage by Islamist gunmen in the northeastern border town of Arsal, the state-run National News Agency reported.
The army's Airborne Regiment carried out the operation to free the troops, who according to LBCI, were held at the Rafik Hariri clinic by the terrorists who overran the town on Saturday.
Six ISF members were released by the militants in two batches in the past two days after Muslim scholars brokered a cease-fire in what has been the most serious spillover to date from Syria's civil war.
Scores of soldiers have been killed and injured in the fighting. A number of policemen and soldiers are missing or remain in captivity.
Meanwhile, around 20 Red Cross ambulances entered Arsal in coordination with the Lebanese army to transport the wounded to hospitals.
The capture of Arsal was the first time in Syria's conflict, now in its fourth year, that rebels seeking the overthrow of President Bashar Assad have carried out a large-scale incursion into*Lebanon.
The fighting has prompted Army chief Gen. Jean Qahwaji to call for more international aid, and on Tuesday night, al-Mustaqbal movement leader ex-PM Saad Hariri announced Saudi Arabia had pledged $1 billion.
The new aid pledge came after Saudi Arabia and France said they would both work to speed up implementation of a separate $3 billion arms deal for Lebanon.

Lebanese authorities have intercepted telephone conversations between the leaders of militants who captured Arsal, a town in northeastern Lebanon, over the weekend and inmates at Roumieh prison, security officials said.
The officials, who were not identified, told As Safir daily published on Thursday that the phone calls also involved some Islamists in the northern city of Tripoli and the Ain el-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp near the southern city of Sidon.
Ain el-Hilweh is known to harbor extremists while many Islamists are held imprisoned in Roumieh.
The officials identified two suspects with their initials as R.M. and A.M., saying they ran some operations in Arsal and Tripoli.
Most of the gunmen, who overran Arsal over the weekend after the arrest of al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front member Imad Jomaa, began moving toward Syria on Wednesday as a new 24-hour cease-fire was announced.
According to As Safir, around 2,000 terrorists had entered Arsal and that Abou Talal, the deputy of Jomaa, is negotiating on behalf of the fighters.
Scores of Lebanese soldiers were killed and injured in the five days of clashes.
In a sign of the conflict spreading further into*Lebanon, Tripoli witnessed in the past few days attacks on the Lebanese army, sniper fire and an explosion.
Like Arsal, Tripoli is predominantly Sunni and many residents back the overwhelmingly Sunni rebels in Syria trying to overthrow Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Lebanese Army escorts first aid convoy into Arsal

ARSAL, Lebanon: Aid convoys entered Arsal Thursday, the first humanitarian supply since clashes erupted between the Army and militants from Syria, who withdraw earlier in the day from the embattled northeastern border town.
Three trucks carrying food and medical supply made their way through the town accompanied by military vehicles and soldiers, a security source told The Daily Star, while the Lebanese Red Cross said ambulances transported 44 wounded civilians from the town to nearby hospitals.
Elite Army units combed the Arsal region, including its outskirts, where heavy clashes between the military and jihadists raged for five days, killing 17 soldiers, in the worst Syria-linked violence in the country since 2011.
Army commander Gen. Jean Kahwagi told the Cabinet in a meeting with other security commanders that the situation in Arsal was under control and the town was now free of jihadists.
After stepping out of the meeting, Kahwagi told reporters that the Lebanese captives had been taken out of Arsal by the militants on the first day of clashes. A total of 38 members of security forces - 22 Lebanese soldiers and 19 policemen - were taken captive by militants who overran Arsal Saturday following the arrest of a Syrian rebel commander, Imad Jomaa, by the Lebanese Army.
Nine captives have so far been released as part of mediation efforts by the Committee of Muslim Scholars, which led to the cease-fire and ensuing withdrawal.
The Army is working to restore order in Arsal Thursday morning, with a number of missing policemen turning up and efforts underway to secure the release of the rest.
Before the militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria withdrew, Army commandos killed 17 jihadists in a 90-minute battle that ended shortly after midnight, security sources said Thursday. The latest fatalities upped the militant death toll from the Arsal battle to 67.
Twelve civilians have been killed in the fighting.
The sources said groups loyal to Jomaa pulled out toward Syria Thursday following clashes with Lebanese troops around Wadi Sweid and Wadi Hosn, the farthest east points in Arsal, close to the border.
Nusra Front fighters, who were involved in the fierce clashes alongside ISIS gunmen, withdrew from Arsal late Wednesday, part of a cease-fire deal mediated by the Committee of Muslim Scholars.
After the militants' withdrawal, seven missing policemen were found.
Security sources said the Lebanese Army found three members of the Internal Security Forces at a house in Arsal. Around 8:30 a.m., another four ISF members turned up at a Lebanese Army checkpoint in the Ain al-Shuob neighborhood at the town's entrance.
Local officials as well as security sources said the situation was quiet in Arsal after the withdrawal of the militants. The Army is carrying out operations around the town to verify the complete withdrawal of militants before entering the town itself.
Journalists who had gathered at Ain al-Shuob checkpoint Thursday morning were told by the Army to leave as troops were mopping up in the opposite highlands of Ras al-Sarj, where heavy fighting was reported the day before.
The Syrian regime launched airstrikes on the outskirts of Arsal Thursday morning, with Al-Mayadeen reporting that dozens of fleeing rebels were wounded when militant hideouts along the border were targeted.

Very good move from the LAF. They know exactly what they are doing. A pity our politicians are pathetic and hold no self respect.

Army Command: Our troops have continued to deploy in Arsal and surrounding regions and have positioned on hills near the town. Troops have also erected a checkpoint at the western entrance of the village.

What is funny about those videos is that none of them show actual combat between da3sh and the Syrian army which prove my suspicions.

But what is funnier is that fact that the Baathi camera is embedded with each Da3shi movement and is detailing everything on the ground, which again proves my suspicions.

But what is funniest is the fact that you believed that Syrian Baathi propaganda videos....
Oh and that video about killing 2 da3sh members using snipers, did not show any one getting killed, no blood was shown...it just show one armed guy laying on the ground talking and moving without complaining about any pain ....
again according to me Da3sh = Nusra = the Baathi regime....and do not forget Hizballah who conspired to bring his Nusra and Da3ish friends to arsal to kill the Lebanese army soldiers....yes Hizballah and da3ish are killing Lebanese soldiers.
